Recently we got a puppy oh what a bundle of joy. The puppy was running here and there biting slippers sleeping on the floor and just being cute. The only problem was that we had no way to know when he would poop or where?

Yes I agree that it can be pretty effective having the dog get used to a confined place but I was reluctant to cage my dog in that manner.
In fact this was one of the best top ranked methods for potty training, but I give it a pass.
Another option I found was using puppy pads but it has a few disadvantages when was that you can be pretty confusing for the dog to get to understand that there is a specific spot where it has to go to relieve itself.
The other problem was that since I was out of the house quite a long time changing these pads can be a challenge especially on those days where the puppy needs to go more often.

Food has a important role to play in terms of the quantity and the type of food that we feed the puppy this determines the frequency and the quantity of poop.

I found out that it is a inculcation of a new habit that has to be consistently taught in a loving manner to the puppy. Patience is the most important component, whether you use a puppy pad or a crate or any other tool ultimately the success of the training depends on patience and persistence of you the owner.
