This is how I use vinegar to clean the litter box. If you have some other way of cleaning using vinegar do share in the comments section.

Step 1 Empty the litter box

Empty the contents of the litter box. I usually throw away the litter.

Cleaning is a weekly or biweekly process in my house. By this time the litter box needs a thorough scrub.

So so we discard the remaining litter an ad in fresh letter once we are done with the cleaning.

the latter I use is biodegradable its made from soil and my cat absolutely loves it.

It can actually be flushed down the toilet.

Depending on the quantity of litter being discarded be either flush it down the toilet or we discard it in the waste bin.

Step 2 Wipe it dry

This is an additional step which we do we clean it dry using a tissue.

This might look like a simple thing but if you do not clean and dry there are certain types of litter which will actually clump and stick to the container.

This will make it very difficult for you to clean the litter from the container and make a big mess.

So get all the litter bits out-of-the-box remove all the dust it will make the cleaning process a breeze.

Step 3 Soak in Vinegar

now soak the letterbox in vinegar. shocking the letter box is not always necessary especially if the letter box is not very dirty.

If you find that the litter box is not very dirty, then you can simply wet a rag and use that to wipe the box.

You can add in a few drops of dish wash which will help remove any gunk.

Dish wash is a natural flea and insect repellent and it will also help clean up quicker.

if you would rather not use dishwash then you can also some add baking soda.

Let it sit for a while and then scrub it off in circular motions.

If on the other hand you think that the litterbox is smelly and it needs a little bit of TLC, then soak it in white vinegar for some time at least 15 to 20 minutes.

Discard the vinegar and move onto the next step which is to runs the litter box.

Tip: if you warm the vinegar the cleansing powers and the deodorizing powers increase a lot.

I sometimes just warm it on the gas stove and then put it into the letter box.

I also add in a drop or two of dishwash liquid.

Believe me if you warm the vinegar you will not need to even scrub.

There is something about this combination of hot vinegar and dish wash liquid.

You just need to let it sit from anywhere between 10 minutes to half an hour.

Then just move on to the next step which is to rinse the litter box.

Step 4 Rinse

Rinse it thoroughly. I cannot emphasize enough on the word thoroughly.

Cats are so picky and they can smell the smells which should not don’t even know exist.

you need to get that vinegary smell out of the letter box.

Also you need to get the dish wash liquid out.

So rinse thoroughly and pat it dry and leave it to dry.

Air drying is the best way to get the vinegar out, it evaporates.

That’s it you are done.

That’s how we clean the litter box your in our house other loonypets.

Writing it down makes it look much more complicated than it actually is.

Cleaning the litter box will not be a chore if if you follow this three step process.

Clean the Litter Box Daily

Clean the litter box daily. Try to clean at least twice a day.

Every time you clean put in fresh litter.

Maintain the level of the letter in the letter box.

You will notice that if there is enough letter in the letter box then there won’t be much to clean.

Else you will find urine and feces stuck to the bottom of the litterbox.

This will make the cleaning process such a pain believe me.
